1. Educational purpose
House of Wisdom ("Bayt al-Hikma") is an educational platform. Content, tutors, and tools are provided for learning and enrichment. They are not a substitute for school curricula, professional tutoring contracts, or formal certification unless expressly stated.
2. Parent responsibility for child usage
If you create a parent or teacher account and add child profiles, you are responsible for supervising how children use the platform, for the accuracy of information you provide about them, and for ensuring use is appropriate for their age and circumstances. You must have authority to manage a child's learning account before adding them.
3. No guarantee of educational outcomes
We do not guarantee any specific academic result, grade improvement, mastery of a subject, Quran memorization outcome, or test score. Learning progress depends on many factors outside our control. AI-assisted tutoring and explanations may contain errors; users should verify important facts with qualified teachers or scholars.
4. Data collection and usage
How we collect, use, and protect personal information is described in our Privacy Policy. By using the platform, you agree to that policy as it relates to your account and any child profiles you manage.
5. Donations and payments
House of Wisdom accepts voluntary donations to support the platform. Donations are processed securely by Stripe in USD. All donations are non-refundable unless required by applicable law. We do not provide tax receipts unless expressly stated, including charitable donation receipts for Canadian tax purposes. By donating, you agree to Stripe's consumer terms at stripe.com/legal/consumer.
6. AI and third-party services
House of Wisdom uses third-party services to deliver its features, including Google Gemini (AI tutoring responses), Google Cloud Text-to-Speech (scholar voices), Google OAuth (sign-in), OpenAI Whisper (pronunciation scoring from audio), Stripe (donations), Supabase (database hosting), and Vercel (platform hosting). When you interact with a scholar tutor, your messages may be sent to Google Gemini for processing. When you use Hifz or pronunciation practice, audio may be sent to OpenAI for transcription. We do not sell this data. Each provider operates under its own privacy and data policies.
7. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Ontario.
8. PIPEDA (Canada)
For users in Canada, we aim to handle personal information in a manner consistent with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial privacy rules. Questions about privacy practices may be sent to legal@houseofwisdom.ca.
9. Account deletion
Account deletion is available on request. Email legal@houseofwisdom.ca from the address associated with your account to request deletion of your parent account and related child profile data, subject to any legal retention requirements.
